Michael Gibbison is a contemporary artist who when discovered in the 1970’s was the local plumber, who was driven to paint whenever possible, not even thinking that his work could or would appeal to the public in general.
Evocative of Paul Maze the French artist, and Jack Butler Yeats RHA, the Irish master, Michael Gibbison has the rhythmic flow of a true Expressionist painter. Gibbison’s paintings can't help but amuse - possibly reminding you of an eccentric aunt or uncle; the whimsical helping to take the strain out of the reality of life. Gibbison is mainly known for his equestrian works, hunting, racing and military subjects.
