Naomi Clements Wright
British artist Naomi Clements Wright has drawn and painted with unwavering dedication since childhood. Encouraged by an innate passion for observation and creativity, Naomi pursued formal training at Harrogate Art College before studying Fine Art at Newcastle University and later at the University of Oxford.
A defining influence on Naomi’s artistic development was the distinguished art historian Professor Francis Haskell, under whom she studied nineteenth-century French art at Oxford. Haskell's inspirational teaching left a lasting impression on Naomi Clements Wright's approach to painting. His encouragement culminated in a portrait Naomi painted of him being selected for the BP Portrait Award in 1998. The portrait now hangs in the Art, Architecture and Ancient World Library at the University of Oxford.
Committed to continual learning, Naomi Clements Wright further developed her practice through regular life drawing at Heatherley's School of Fine Art in London and became a member of the Chelsea Arts Club. Alongside her own painting, Naomi has taught life drawing and still life, undertaken numerous portrait commissions, and exhibited extensively in both solo and mixed exhibitions across London and throughout the UK.
Naomi Clements Wright's work has been selected for some of Britain's most respected exhibitions, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on four occasions, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the New English Art Club and the Discerning Eye Exhibition.
